With more and more people clamoring for quality CBD, not only has the nation had to take a closer look at these products but so has individual states. More recently, New Hampshire is looking at ways to regulate CBD products and ensure that products are safe. Additionally, the goal is to make the industry more accessible for both consumers and producers. What’s going on in New Hampshire?
What Does the Bill Do?
Lawmakers with the New Hampshire House of Representatives proposed a bill set to take place in 2022 that would allow the state to sell hemp-derived CBD products. Manufacturers will have to register CBD products annually to guarantee they are safe and pure. Additionally, the bill would create a new position in the Department of Health and Human Services for product inspections.
Expanding Offerings
CBD lovers should also know that the New Hampshire bill will allow manufacturers to sell CBD-infused foods as long as they produce them in the state. Further, manufacturers must follow exact standards when it comes to lab testing and labeling. The bill would require each product to be registered for $100 per year.
Input from the Council for Responsible Nutrition
The Council for Responsible Nutrition has weighed in and recommended that the state model itself off the federal government. The group urged the state to standardize its requirements to protect both manufacturers and customers. The council encourages states to take charge of their CBD laws and regulations as the nation awaits further guidance from the federal government.
